Good writers read different genres, and authors all while perfecting themselves. If you want to know more about fiction, read fiction. If you want to explore love novels, read that. The first part of your article or hub should begin with your introduction. An introduction tell you audience what you are about to tell them.
It gives them a little sneak peak into what is to come. Write you introduction in such a way as to entice them to want them to read more.
Can you remember going to a book store and
reading the jacket cover, to determine whether or not you wanted to buy the
book? This is the purpose of an
introduction. You want to introduction to make people want to read more of what you have to say.
What Steps do you Take to Improve your Writing
The Body of your Article
The body of your article is where you begin to tell your audience in full what you want to tell you, or the expansion of your introduction. Most people write for the purpose of imparting something of themselves to their readers. What do you want to do in the main content of you article? Be serious, make them laugh, make them think, provoke them, or teach them something?
The body of your article is where you will go about relaying your message. Help your audience to see what you see and feel what you feel or teach your audience something you feel can help or change their lives. The body is the meat of your articles and where you will expand the original ideas in the introduction.
Your Why
In my introduction, I gave an example of a friend who writes, deep and scholarly things that average people may difficult to understand. This is where you have to know your audience. If people can not understand what you are saying or are not interested in what you have to say, you will never have an opportunity to reach them.
If you really want to have a greater impact with your audience, write not just to inform but to transform. Leave them with something that will add to or help change their life. I have read many articles that I put in my favorites, why? Because they articles that will help me, teach me or change me for the better.
Your Audience
If you want to reach your audience, you have to be able to understand, who they are and what they are looking for. What is your target audience?
Pick your target audience either by age, gender, lifestyle, location purchasing habits talents or interests, etc. Once you know who you are talking to them you can fashion your article to that audience. If you audience is new moms, then you would write about anything that a new mom may be interested in.
The Venue
Use the proper techniques for your venue. When you writing for a magazine, blogs or article content, you approach may be a little different them of you are writing a novel. When producing articles, you have a short amount of time to capture your audiences’ attention. So when creating a hub or article, offer you reading bite sized portions that are easy to digest.
When people go online to look for information, they tend to scan the material, ranter then read each line. When you keep your paragraphs short, it is more likely the entire article will be read. For example, when reading an article that has no paragraphs at all, or 15 or more lines in a paragraph, it appears too long and people won’t read it. Remember paragraphs and keep them about six to seven lines long. Keep you paragraphs in nice bite sized portions easy to be read.
Your Conclusion
The only way to improve is to work at your craft often. Even if it is not as good as you would like. Writing is a skill that can learned, developed and with experience, developed day by day, month by month and year by year. The conclusion of your article is when you tied in all that has been written and challenge you readers to change. It can be your call to action.
In your conclusion, you are basically telling your audience what you have already told them. What ever your reason, writing is a wonderful way to inform people, help people and challenge people to action. Write to your target audience, write to be understood, and write to impart something of yourself to others and then publish what you have written.
