They will all need help and support to bring them to sobriety.

Wealthy people have no problem finding help for their addiction, but others may have to look at other alternatives to find the help they need. Finding Support

Finding the support you for substance abuse, can be difficult. Especially if you have burned all your bridges with friends and family; or you do not have medical benefits.

That is OK, there are others, who are not you family, but connected to you in a very special way, who are willing and ready to help you heal and find restoration and recovery.

It is important for you to take the first steps in getting help by researching and looking for live-in or out treatment facilities that specialized in treating you specific addiction.

As you begin to help yourself, you will find other are there with outstretched hand to help and support you.

Medicare and Medicaid

Medicare and Medicaid can help with paying for treatment for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Medicare is supplemental health insurance for people over the age of 65. It helps elderly and the disabled and those of any age with renal failure.

Medicare Part A is hospital insurance and if you were to go into in-house treatment Medicare would cover these costs. Part B of Medicare is medical insurance.

Medicaid is, a state run program that provides medical coverage for, children, women, the elderly and people with disabilities who financially meet the criteria. The addiction program you are considering, will try to find payment option for you and help your register to receive Medicaid if you qualify. Those with Medicaid can obtain drug treatment from hospitals and facilities that take that type of medical coverage.

With the government talking about cutting entitlement programs, I hope they weigh the cost of having so many people with addictions unable to get help.

Betty Ford Clinic

The Betty Ford Clinic is a not-profit facility, dedicated to the treatment of addiction and metal health. You may have heard of famous people, such as President's wives and movie stars, signing into the Betty Ford Clinic.

Rehabilitation at the Betty Ford Clinic is very expensive, there is a limited amounts of assistance grants are available, to individuals who meet eligibility requirements. Go to the website to see what the types of assistance and treatment resources they have available.

Faith-Based Programs

There are also Religious treatment centers that are helpful, like New Life for Girls, New Life for Boys, Rapph House, Celebrate Recovery. There are ministries and faith-based organization that will sponsor those seeking recovery from addiction.

Many of these programs are free or will ask the person entering treatment to raise money through sponsors. If you are a member or attending a church, often they will find means of supporting you through donations.

These programs a Christ-centered in nature and designed to address emotional wounds, and spiritual deficits, which lead to drug and alcohol addiction. There is usually a two year commitment required for the program.

Many faith-based programs have been chosen by the courts as an alternative to incarceration. Defendants are required to complete the time requirement at the facility or complete any sentence that was ordered by the courts..

Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonyomus

Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous are not considered a therapeutic facility, but is a place for people who are battling like addictions, can find information, support and accountability.

Many people who have gone through addiction treatment, will still attend these meetings in order to stay connected to a healthy environment of people who are constantly working on their sobriety.

Meetings at Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous, are not just for the recovering addict, but has also been found to be helpful to friends, families and loves ones supporting the addict.

PJ, first decide what kind of treatment program you want to put your son in,Secular, Religious, out patient or in patient. Find out if the program takes Medicaid. If they do, I think they will help you process the paper work.

I have a 25 year old son with a heroine addicition. He has no job or nor money. I am 65 and a widow, so my ability to assist him is really limited. Does anyone know how we begin to find some kind of financial assistance? He is currently open to treatment, so we need to act on this asap. Thank you

Hello Ed, I hope you can find the help you need. I said Medicare can help; not that they help with all recovery programs. I also mentioned talks about cutting entitlement programs.

cant get help, Ed. 6 weeks ago

You are incorrect Medicare does not cover any type of detox, any medical bill that has detox listed in it.
