Assurance is offering one free cell phone and 200 FREE minutes each month for nationwide local and domestic long-distance calling,voice mail, call waiting, and caller ID and 911 access cell phone minutes each month.

You also have the option of purchasing more time for 10 cents per minute for phone and text messages. I believe, if you use this phone discretely, this 200 minutes can last for one month.

The news has reported that thousands of people who had given up looking for work are not actively participating in the job search.

A free cell phone can help them contact employers, look for job opportunities, and be able to get immediate calls about job interviews.

Households who have lost one income from a two income home that are suffering financially, now have one less bill they need to worry about, and still be able to get in touch with friends and family regularly.

Families on the gulf who are still waiting to be compensated for the financial losses due to the oil spill, now have one less burden to worry about.

It is true that everyone can not receive this free cell phone. Assurance Wireless program is for low income and displace people in several state in the United States.

Right now only people living in: Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina,Texas, Louisiana, Michigan, New York,Tennessee, Virginia.

Financial qualifications are anyone who:

1. Food Stamps/SNAP
2. Receiving Medicaid
3. On Section 8 or Federal Public Housing
4. Receiving TANF- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
5. Receiving LIHEAP Low Energy Assistance Program
6. Child is on the National School Lunch Program
7. Supplemental Security Income SSI

Other qualifications for the Assurance Wireless Cell Phone are: if your income is below the National poverty level, and if you are presently receiving unemployment insurance.

You can apply by going to Assurance Wireless, checking if your city has the plan in your area. Fill out a form to request a free cell phone.

An application will be sent to you with a free postage envelope. If you do not receive any of the Federally Funded benefits, you may qualify if you are considered below the poverty level.

Verification off income will be requested. Fill out the application and return it to Assurance Wireless. Annual re-certification will determine if you qualify for the cell phone program.
