Is Anybody Praying for President Barack Obama?
76Every six months or so, I hear something that troubles me deeply and I decide to write about it. I will warn you in advance, this is my rant...
It is amazing to me how much anger and hatred has been directed toward President Obama, since his rise to office. I can not determine if is it because of the lies and rhetoric that has been on Fox cable news, or if the racism of the past has never gone away.
I am not partial to information as I watch both Fox, MSNBC and CNN; because I want the truth. Not just the slant of my party. I watch all the news stations and then weigh what I hear. The problem with some is we do not want the truth, but rather we want to believe what feeds our anger and frustration.
I fear for this country, not because of the possibility of outside forces such as terrorist, but I am afraid because of the war that is among us. We fight, attack and devour one another. Is anybody praying for President Obama?
Remember 911
I have never heard such hatred and such disrespect one American to another. I do not recognize her. Will it take another terrorist attack to shake us from our anger and distrust of each other and cause us to love and respect each other once again?
Remember the Days after 911, every man was you brother and there was nothing we would not do to help at the site of the Twin Towers. Men and woman risked their lives and health to look for survivors and remains of the dead. Now we are killing each other and picking each other apart.
Taking the Country Back
The GOP, wants to take America back to the foundation of our forefathers. Do you realize how corrupt and ungodly our forefathers were?
They too lied, slandered their fellow Senators and Congressmen, physically fought and did what ever it took to win politically. Is that what we want to return to? They were just like we are now!
There is a movement of hatred for homosexuals, Muslims, Latinos and anyone who is different than ourselves. Is this the moral right that we claim to be? Does this behavior represent the God that we serve? God is love; God hates the sin but loves sinners.
Can hatred turn a homosexual to a heterosexual? Can hatred cause a Muslim to love America? They shall knew we are his sheep if we have love one to another.
Don't Swallow the Lies
Are you not listening, are your not watching? Things are not getting better, because we have blocked ever bill that would make things better.
Do you realize that we are the ones who want
to back people who want to continue to send our jobs overseas? Do you realize they don't care anything
about us? The Democrats promised change and change has not come and like impatient children we throw ourselves on the ground and hold our breath. Who told you any party is in charge of you destiny?
They live in expensive houses, with the money that they receive from big business. Their children have access to the best of education and the best connections when they graduate. Yet when it comes to our children, they want to cut spending in education and financial aid.
Can you afford to send your children to Harvard? They can! Do you have 80,000 put aside for each child your want to send to school? They do! Yet, how are our children going to be educated?
Show me the Money
It is not about what party is right or wrong; because it is about greed, money and power. This is what God meant, when he said the love of money is the root of all evil.
Both sides want power and dominion over one another. We have to ask God, to reveal the truth to us and not be lambs to the slaughter. We are all being deceived and pit one against another. Are we not American all!
Both sides are greedy. They manipulate us, so that they can fulfill their agenda and when they are filled, we will be left empty, once again. When will we learn, they are playing us. All of us!
No matter, which party wins, they will all be OK. They will drive off in their fancy cars, go their million dollar homes and jet set with the rich and famous and watch their salaries and pensions grow, while we like foolish children tear one another apart.
Forget the Poor
The Congress and the Senate receive a double pension when they
retire, yet they want to play with our Social Security. When their
experiment does not work, what will happen to us? Do you really want them to privatize Social Security?
We want to do away with social entitlements. When there is nothing in place to help the poor, what to you think will happen. There will be a return to total lawlessness. Desperate people have nothing to lose, and should the poor of this county have nothing to feed their families. We will all suffer for our cold hardheartedness.
Do you remember the depression? Government intervention is the only thing preventing a rise of Dillians, Baby Face Nelsons and Bonnie and Clydes once again. They were birthed out of great poverty and destitution.
Have you Prayed Yet?
Pray not for Republican nor Democratic rule, but pray that God’s will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. When God's will is done, then everyone will win. Pray for peace not on earth, but in America among Americans, black white, Hispanic Christian, Muslims, Buddhists and the like.
I have been Republican since I came to the Lord over thirty years ago, but I have never seen such as this. I have never seen this disrespect of a president. I have never heard a president called a jackass of nation television.
I have never heard someone pray for a president to die, or that a president to fail. America, I do not recognize you! When did we make a decision to be the voice of darkness? When did we decide that hatred is stronger then love? When did we lose our way?
When We Pray, God Will Hear
When will begin to act like God loving Americans and pray for this nation and pray for President Obama? Pray that God will direct Obama’s steps.
Pray that Obama will hear and obey God’s
will. Pray that God will be done! Prayer, not hated will change things
in America. When we pray America will prosper again! Is anybody
praying for Obama?
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
While praying is important and a powerful force for change, do not forget to take action as well to demand that our politicians serve the people and not themselves. to remove greed and dishonesty from the political process.

2besure, have your ideas changed at all over the time Barack Obama has been president?
Now it seems it has only gotten worse with so-called "conservatives" praying for our president's death and "demanding" that anything negative (such as the Native American Holocaust and slavery) be removed from the history books. These are very frightening times. Voted up and awesome!
Another great HUB! Voted up and awesome! :)
I'm in ... Obama 2012!
Hi 2besure, Excellent hub! I have been praying for America and Obama. I agree that we need to pray for those who rule this country. Prayer makes a difference. Thanks for sharing. God bless you.
Thanks for pointing out some of this. We seem to often be a nation of people bent on critcizing and condemning everyone. If a story in the news is about an accidental death, we shout and scream about killing the unintended perpetrator without a trial. We insist our president is a demon from the most oppressive regime imaginable because we disagree on a policy. How evil is that?
And while I'm very skeptical of the uber wealthy, I don't condemn them when they've reaped the benefits of their hard labor.(not so much for the ones who've done it on the back of others!) The world doesn't operate on an all or nothing philosophy. Not all poor men deserve our sympathy and not all rich ones deserve our scorn. But the black and white thinking is what imprisons us all. It makes life simple, but it results in many "errors".
Anway, although I'm not a religious person I do pray for our presidents and that they will be guided well. People see what they want to see, they don't generally bother with taking in more information in order to revise their devotely held beliefs. I couldn't stand a number of decisions that GWB made, but I never considered him the devil nor wished him ill. Can any of us imagine going to work each day with people screaming at us the entire time? I don't think the answer is to not speak out, but for pete sake can't we be more constructive?
I respect our founding fathers, but they were men. They had strengths and weaknesses. None of their decisions were unanimous in any way nor perfect for all time. They were slave owners, womanizers, often bigots and more. But, I recognize that what they did was wonderful.
I say we should pray, or hope, for our leaders, speak out when we need to, but always do it in a manner that works towards a solution and is respectful of others.
I pray for Obama because 1) he is our president; 2) he has done some good things for all of us, including changes in health insurance, and 3) I pray for him because I'm hoping he'll help me get a job. I don't get all this negative stuff. I would like us all to work together toward a common good.
I have prayed for Obama. I disagree about the Founding Fathers. They were only men, yes; they sinned yes; but they were the greatest collection of men ever assembled in one place at one time in world history.
We should all Pray for our Leaders in Government. For we all need Prayer we need the Leaders of this Country to turn back to God before it is to late. Our Government is trying to take God out of everything. We need to Pray for them all with our hearts.
Pat writes: I am in agreement with the suggestion that there should be prayers for the president. In fact, I think citizens of every country should pray for the leader. Even if you disagree with the leader's politics, prayer is important.
thanks for a thought-provoking hub.
Very good hub 2be! And I am so with you pray, pray and then pray some more. Yes obviously we should take action as well but that also just brings more opportunity for prayer. Pray when you review the candidates, pray when you go in the voters booth.
And as to the "good Indian dead Indian comment" AR I'm sure you've heard the saying "do to others as you would have done to yourself", yet you make statements like this and complain about muslims attacking us and never stop to think that the only difference between you and an indian is none. And the only difference between you and a muslim terrorist is only in a change of name, simply replace Indian with American. Also isn't that the same attitude Hitler had against the jews??
Thus as 2be said shame on you. Sorry 2be but that comment is just horrible, didn't mean to distract from your wonderful hub.
A new fan~Robert
In response to some of the comments.
"You cannot pray for the devil." In the bible Jesus says to love thy enemy and pray for those who persecute you. If you believe in the devil, he'd be the greatest enemy and also the one that persecutes us the most. If you see Obama as the "devil" and see him as your enemy and you believe his actions "persecute" you then it makes sense to pray for him.
And 2besure never said anything about this is not the greatest country, she said that there is a lot of hatred going on. I think we have the best country, I'm glad I don't live anywhere else...but we still have problems.
And in regards to another comment...I think prayer leads to action when action is needed and patience when that is needed instead. Prayer can lead to a more clear mind that leads one to take appropriate action (similar to how meditation can lead to similar results, as they are closely related).
I'll leave the praying to you but I think this is a great hub. It is good to hear from sensible people and know that they are still out there.
What I mean about the praying comment is that I believe we need to take action to remove the greed from politics. If we pass comprehensive campaign finance reform, we can remove the conflict of money in politics.
Lastly, thank you for pointing out the hatred and often misplaced anger at our president. I think the recession helps add to the anger but I also believe it is largely a product of his skin color.
You cant pray for the devil, he is still a devil and wants nothing but to destroy! The Europeans felt as you and look at the mess they are in with the Muslims! Muslims are now like the Indians of old! A good one is a dead one! Obama is destroying our country! He has implemented laws that will hurt not help! And our forefathers created the greatest country on earth! ...........for you to deny this is absurd!
This is a great hub. I am fed up with so many Americans who are blinded of the mind. Better to be blinded in the eyes any day. Obama is the scapegoat of an angry GOP that wants to be rid of anyone in office who is sympathetic to poorer Americans, which, by the way, the GOP helped Make poorer by cheating us and siding with big business so people can whine about Obama all they want, they attack him just like Clinton, yet WMD, well we will let that slide while Americans were killed in Iraq, a country which, did nothing to us? Too many Americans want to be the world bullies. Bullies in schools? Why not, bullies beget bullies. Love this hub.
I disagreed with some of what you said, but loved the part about prayer. And loved what you said that the hatred will not change things (at least not for the better). I wouldn't vote for Obama because I differ in opinion with what direction to take to help our country, but am frustrated by the forwarded emails I get from people trashing him.
P.S. That picture of the child covered in plastic is really disturbing. I didn't even read any of the text next to it because it's so disturbing. But I read the stuff before and below it.
a very interesting hub 2besure, as I am nt American this is one which I will sadly sit on, but say that praying is a good and positive thing to do, in anything. It is something that can allow us to learn and to reflect on what we think we beleive, so great job
2be or not 2be; that is the question. Maybe we all need to be humbled. It's in the book you write of. babylon is fallen
I am sorry 2besure, by no meas does blackness have anything to do with anything. It just happens that he is black. If McCain would have won, as I wrote we would be in the same situation as they were both puppets of Wall Street on that election and I would have just said Pinocchio because McCain is white. Obama can't be Pinocchio because Pinocchio wasn't black as a puppet/toy so I changed his name accordingly. The colour doesn't matter at all though or political party for that matter as long as lobbyists buy them all off and have them serve their own personal interests.
Yes many are praying for the President as well as for those who are in charge over us. And Yes we are suppose to pray for those in politics, NOTHING is outside of the realm of prayer.
Look my friend, praying will not do you any good in relation to the political system and the crippling situation the United States finds itself in. Praying may help you spiritually but that's it.
Politicians only listen to lobbyists who dump millions and millions of dollars into Congress every year. That is for whom laws are made - for the filthy rich who send lobbyists with bags full of money to Capitol Hill. It doesn;t matter if it is like you said a right wing politician or a left wing politician in power. Wall Street funded for the most part Obama's campaign and that of McCain so it did not matter who won the election. The bankers would have ripped us off anyway and we would have been here complaining the same way we are now even if Obama would have lost the presidential election.
The system is crooked because over the years special interest groups working with politicians have made it so. They have created a society that is beneficial for them only while the vast majority of the population can starve-off (we need population control anyway they say).
Thus, change needs to happen at a very basic level. For example, the American public cannot escape debt as long as a small private group of people controls the monetary system through the corrupt institution which we all know as the Federral Reserve Bank. Until Bernanke is thrown out the door, stripped of his job and the people can have control of their money, nothing much will change.
Obama is the black Pinocchio president who fooled most. Does that mean that if McCain would have won things would have been different? Not at all. We need to make lobbying illegal, the Federal Reserve Bank history and perhaps then, there might be a cleaner base from where a government responsible to the people can be created.
Thanks for a good blog!
