If you ever are in a situation where you need help and are in an area where you cannot get phone reception. When you can press 112 on cell phones it will have your call rerouted via satellite and get a live connection. The worldwide number for emergencies on mobile phones is 112.
When buying a cell phone, one of the most important features, is signal reliability. Mobile phones that are known to drop calls and give spotty service, are soon dropped for more reliable ones.
There is nothing more terrifying than being in an isolated place, a broke down car and no cell phone connection. Remember the horror movie, "Wrong Turn?" You can feel the panic of the woman knowing, she is in a dangerous situation and cannot contact anyone to help her.

You may have received an e-mail like this, giving you seemingly this helpful information. It sounds reasonable enough and who wouldn't want to have this knowledge when in a tight situation.
Being able to reach help when you need it is something that everyone desires, especially when you are out of reach or cell phone towers and in an isolated place.
This e-mail has been sent to countless numbers of people via an e-mail sent and encouraged to be forwarded to someone else. And forward it to friends and family, thousands of people did.
Can we trust information sent to us merely because it is sent in an e-mail? Wouldn't you forward this to someone you loved?

The claim is that the universal emergency contact number for cell phones is 112. This is not exactly true. This number is limited the Europe and some boarding countries. If you live in these areas you will be able to connect with an emergency service. This is not the case for Asia, Africa and North and South America.
If you live in America, and you have an emergency the best number to reach help are still 911. Each country programs cell phones for the proper emergency number for that area.
Some cell phone companies will allow you to reach an emergency number even when out of the prescription location. However, there is no magical way to get a cell phone connection when you are in a location where there are no cell towers or service in that particular area.
If you ever receive an e-mail like this, don't forward it to anyone else. This is how false information is received as truth and in turn cause confusion, or harm to others.
